We are thrilled to share that, Jaroka mobile based Tele-healthcare for rural and disaster hit communities, has been selected as one of the top 30 finalists for the next round of Top 11 in 2011 Challenge. In the final round, eleven innovators will be determined by a combination of public and selection committee votes. ITS TIME TO VOTE NOW. Jaroka presented at Women Deliver 2010

UM Healthcare Trust's phenomenal project , Jaroka was provided with fully funded opportunity to be presented at  "Young Women Speak and Young Women Deliver " , panelary session moderated by Hollywood Actress Ashley Judd, at Women Deliver 2010 held at Washington Convention Center, from 4-9 June 2010. The strategies, practices, challenges,success and failures faced by jaroka during its implementation were shared with huge audience from multiple backgrounds. Women Deliver works globally to generate political commitment and financial investment for fulfilling Millennium Development Goal #5.  The conference was attended by 3,400 advocates, policymakers, development leaders, health care professionals, youth, advocates, and media from 146 countries .  More than 800 speeches and presentations were given at the six plenaries and 120 breakout sessions, and the heads of five UN agencies, plus the Secretary-General, were represented. Thirty countries, UN agencies, the World Bank, corporations, and foundations helped support Women Deliver. http://www.womendeliver.org/

Jaroka mhealth wins mBillionth Award

UM Healthcare Trust is declared winner for the mBillionth Award’s for  mHealth category. At a ceremony organized in New Delhi by its convener, Digital Empowerment Foundation, and sponsored by India’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, OnMobile, and Intel among others, presented the award to Jaroka from a pool of over 200 nominations and submissions. The mBillionth Award is dedicated to exploring the potential of the mobile sector and promoting game changing applications all across South Asia. The Jaroka project is honored for its interactive interfaces, innovative design, aesthetic value, accessibility and most of all it’s relevance of content and utility value. http://mbillionth.in/2010/07/26/jaroka-tele-healthcare/

Jaroka Android- Runner up at Ericsson-PTA Mobile Contest

Jaroka Android Application got runner up position for Ericsson-PTA Mobile Excellence Award contest from all over Pakistan. The application is intended to empower doctors in rural settings to maintain patient record through mobile application and share the require data with medical professionals abroad and in urban settings of Pakistan  for diagnosis of complicated cases. The application is developed by the team at National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) including the students, Mr. Basit Hameed and Mr. Imran Tanveer and the faculty member , Ms. Sana Khalique. The team was honored with the shield along with two Sonny Ericsson cell phones. The mobile application will further make healthcare accessible to the under-served areas of Pakistan. This unique opportunity will give her the platform to learn best practices and strategies followed by non-profits in USA to achieve their objectives.

DHL YES award

DHL YES award

UM Healthcare Trust received another national recognition when it was awarded with DHL YES Awards for Social Entrepreneurship in recognition of their effort to bring innovation in healthcare for  rural communities in Pakistan. The DHL YES Awards aims to recognize and celebrate the contribution of young individualswho are evolving existing and/or using new innovative methods to bring about a positive social change in their communities. The DHL YES Awards focus on unleashing the potential of young Asian social entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 40 who are working to realize the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and national development goals of their respective countries. ITU Cybersecurity and ICT Applications Essay Competition Internship Programme

Jaroka Tele-healthcare is announced winner for , 2009 ITU Cybersecurity and ICT Applications Essay Competition Internship Programme, in the category of 'Mobiles for Development: Enabling Low-Cost e-Applications for Rural and Remote Areas (e-health)'. The competition aims to increase awareness of cybersecurity and the potential of ICT applications, and give young people, especially from developing countries, exposure to the main issues related to these topics and to ITU's ongoing work in this area.

ISIF Asia grants funds to Jaroka

ISIF Asia grants funds to Jaroka

Our project "Capacity building of Lady Health Workers (LHWs) through the use of ICT and mobile based Tele-Healthcare (extension of Jaroka project) in rural Mardan" is selected for ISIF Asia Grant. Total of 11 projects are shortlisted from 148 applications . The total duration of the project is for 1 year commencing from February 2009. Once this innovative model is successfully deployed in Mardan, it shall be replicated to other parts of Pakistan. The funds will cover the expenses for LHWs training workshops, Data collection incentives and salaries of Research assistants involved in the project . USAID/HEC grants funding to Jaroka

USAID/HEC grants funding to Jaroka

Our project has received significant funding from Higher Education Commission (HEC) and USAID.  Jaroka is a joint collaboration between UM Healthcare Trust, National University of Science and Technology (NUST) and The Association of Physicians of Pakistani descent of North America (APPNA).
